Artistic residency in Serrada

The internationally renowned dance company Alicia Soto-Hojarasca resumes its close collaboration with the Valladolid town of Serrada in 2022, after having been a resident company from 2005 to 2013. During that period, 9 of the most emblematic shows of its career were released. In addition, it established one of the pillars of Alicia Soto's project: creating a link between the rural environment and artistic creation that aims to benefit both parties. A philosophy that he already began to develop when he established his rehearsal space and ideas laboratory in Sasamón (Burgos), between 1994-2002.

In 2020, the appearance of Covid-19 cut short the residency that the company was going to hold in Serrada to put on the show The Garden of the Hespérides. Even so, many of the subsequent rehearsals for this production for various tour dates have taken place in the town.

After several residencies carried out both nationally and mainly internationally, he once again has the support and complicity of the Serrada City Council to launch a new and renewed production of La petite voiture. The Comtesse, a show that was born in Serrada in 2011. Under the title of La Petite Voiture 2.0, the new assembly will take shape during the company's stay in the town from July 26 to August 18, 2022. As a final touch to this collaboration, the preview of the piece at the Serrada Sports Center on August 17 at 9:30 p.m.

The official premiere will be in Cebreros (Ávila) on August 19 within the programming of the II Edition of the Castilla y León Heritage Stage Festival.

A profitable relationship

The artistic residency has meant for the Cía. Alicia Soto-Hojarasca to be able to use appropriate facilities, both the theater and other locations and infrastructure in the town, to carry out the rehearsals and creation laboratories of the different shows performed; as well as having an office and a warehouse.
The town has benefited, apart from the logical economic impact of the stay of the entire technical and artistic team involved in the productions, from the development of pedagogical projects for the dissemination of dance among the youngest and seniors, such as the one called One Step Forward. .
This relationship not only promotes the approach of dance, especially contemporary, to new audiences, but also facilitates and brings the creators closer to rural society, opening their gaze to local realities and involving the inhabitants of a specific place. of the artistic processes and the professions they house.

Participation in La petite voiture 2.0

La petite voiture 2.0 is a show for the street and unconventional spaces of dance and technology. Many residents and businesses of Serrada had the opportunity to actively participate in the creation of La petite voiture. La Comtesse in 2011. For example, six local men were included as extras in the recording of the video that is projected during the performance. In addition, the transformation that was done with the car that is the protagonist of the piece, an antique from the 1950s, was carried out by Talleres Paco.
This 2022, in the new production, there will be three women from the town and Talleres Paco will once again resume the work of reviewing and commissioning the vehicle.

The show

La Petite Voiture 2.0 It is a roaming technology and dance performance, breaking the fourth wall, with which the public constantly interacts. Spectators must follow some instructions to be able to enjoy both the video creation captured in the 4 windows of the stroller, and the live interpretation of the choreographies of the Countess and the chauffeur/gentleman.

La Petite Voiture 2.0 is a new production of the company's breakthrough 2011 hit piece La Petite Voiture. The Comtesse. The new version, which will be directed and choreographed by Alicia Soto, will undergo a formal review. Replacing the actor who played the 'gentleman' will be Julian Gómez Pabón, a break dancer, who will share the scene with the dancer Paloma Calderón (who takes over from Alicia). It will also present conceptual changes, since criticism of patriarchy and the stigmatization of women is more present, through aspects such as money, glamor and beauty.
